Light, Form, and Function Below Grade
The Londonberry Basement project transforms a large 3,080-square-foot unfinished level into a light-filled extension of the home’s primary living spaces. The design challenges the traditional perception of basements by creating a bright, inviting environment anchored by sculptural forms, layered lighting, and refined material selections.
A new exterior deck and staircase connect the basement directly to the pool terrace, merging interior and exterior living on a split-grade site. Inside, the space unfolds through a sequence of curated programs—a gym and yoga studio, media room, kitchenette and bar, guest suite, office, and children’s study nook—all unified by a shared visual language of arches, soft textures, and natural light.
Emphasizing brightness and flow, the layout employs open connections, concealed storage, and multiple lighting modes to shape atmosphere and function. Durable wood floors, burlap carpets, custom millwork, and integrated art niches combine warmth and practicality. The result is an elegant lower-level retreat—one that feels expansive, luminous, and wholly connected to the rhythm of everyday life.
