Morehouse

Reimagining community living through thoughtful design and functional transformation.

Reimagining community living through adaptive reuse and carefully calibrated design moves, the Morehouse Project transforms an existing structure into a vibrant, multi-use residential building. Rather than starting from scratch, the design retains much of the original framework by balancing cost-efficiency with impactful architectural interventions that prioritize livability, community, and comfort.

Communal spaces are central to the spatial strategy. On the upper floors, shared lounges and gaming areas bring residents together, while redesigned hallways introduce privacy and individuality through subtle geometry. Each residential unit is compact but flexible, offering multiple layout options tailored to diverse lifestyles.

The ground floor and basement are programmed with a full range of amenities - from dining and lounge areas to fitness, laundry, and parcel services - supporting daily life and encouraging social connection. A simple but deliberate approach to the façade introduces natural light and a renewed public presence.

This project reflects a thoughtful evolution of student and communal housing that is rooted in functionality, but elevated through design.
